Christmas Tree Ornaments

I made a batch of these little women out of bakers clay last year for gifts and they were a big hit.

Bakers Clay
1 cup salt
4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 ounces glycerine (from the drugstore)

Mix flour and salt, set aside.
Mix water and glycerine
Gradually stir into flour mixture (should be gummy) If too dry mist with water, if too wet add flour. Place mixture on a floured board, knead for 10 minutes until it resembles cookie dough. Put any clay not being used in a plastic bag and refrigerate for several days if you want.

Roll into 1/4 inch thickness and up. Use cookie cutters, garlic pressers (for hair) bottle caps, cloves, knitting needles (to make holes for eyes)etc.

Open up a paperclip and stick in the top to be able to hang on tree.

Do not make them too big or thick or they will be too heavy for the tree.

Baking: Prick backs with pin, place on an oiled baking sheet. Bake at 300 to 350F oven for about 1/2 hour, more or less (up to 2 hours for big pieces) until lightly browned. You can varnish if you like a shiny finish.
